STEAKS goes Thai Boxing

Posted on Posted in Derby stuff, Thai Boxing

During the roller derby offseason, STEAKS tried something new!

We got in touch with Muay Thai fighter Laressa Van Emden. She had broken a rib in training before, and was keen on testing the STEAKS Pro top in her upcoming fight.

Laressa has fought in Finland and abroad, achieving one gold and two silvers from Finnish Championships, and gold from World Cup 2015. Her home club is Lahti Thaiboxing Club, LTBC.

Last December she fought against Russian Daria Chelznyak, K-1 kickboxing double champion both in Russia and in the World Cup. Laressa said the top was firm but comfortable, did not restrict movements at all, kept tits in place, and was overall the best top ever.

She has said she will continue to use it in other fights too!

Here you can watch the whole fight. Muay Thai is ancient martial art and some ceremonial habits are part of it in todays sport too, as well as “Sarama” music. Before the fight both fighters wear their gyms traditional mongkhon, which is sort of a crown that the fighter can not touch herself, and its placed to her head and taken away by others. In west most fighters only do short rituals instead of the traditional dance.

The fight are judged by technic instead of just beating the shit out of the opponent by force. This is a sport that requires great physics and mind control!

Outside the ring Laressa is a kind soul who does Yoga and ice swimming with grannies.
